Reynolette Ettienne
Reynolette Ettienne is a Puyallup based up and coming artist. She incorporates primarily wheel thrown techniques into her functional creations. She is a native of Trinidad and Tobago but has spent most of her life in the United States.Doing a “clay class” was a bucket list item and she took her first class at the Hawaii Potters Guild.
Reynolette found ceramics at a tumultuous time in her life and credits it with “saving her”. Ceramics eventually became her respite. She is a military spouse, a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN), and earned a doctorate in Health Education over a decade ago. Reynolette is also a mom. Because of frequent military moves, she has been fortunate to learn from various teachers and mentors at community studios across the country. These diverse lived experiences inform her practice.
Presently, she is an Adjunct professor of Nutrition with hopes to one day transition her knowledge to teaching beginner ceramics.
“My work is the intersection of who I was, I am and will become. As an homage to my formative years in the Caribbean, I use bright, vibrant colors. Who I am at present is practical-thus I prefer function over form. Who I become is ever evolving.”
